9 mo old Female German Shepherd throwing up bile and clear slime

by Steff Moore
(Indy)

9 mo old Female German Shepherd throwing up bile and clear slime. Seems to mostly vomit on an empty stomach.

Appetite is poor and it's difficult to keep her full. Stools full of hair but otherwise look ok. Weight 63 lbs. @ 9 mos. Seems manic at times - bites.

What would you eat if you were a GSD?
by: Anonymous

Our 7 month old female GSD is 57 lbs. She has had some digestive issues of not wanting eat, diarrea, not to much vomit but a few times. The cheap dried leather chews, pig ear, etc was the culprit.

We now give her Greeny chews, Vitality dried chicken brest fortified with good stuff. And Milk Bone brand crunchy chews.

I did my research and expected dietary sensitivity. I make soft food additive to dry kibble. Wellness and Wolf Pup for large breed has no problems. Eukanuba and Iams kibble is added because I took my vets advice and tried these brands. And she has lose stool with 100% of either.

My advice is dont give the dog something you would not eat. If you had to eat dog food off the shelf what brand would you choose? Have fun with a healthy pup!

Thanks for the help
by: Anonymous

This dog is our daughter and recieves the best loving care. As the more helpful comment below (and our breeder-vet) suggests, these dogs often go through digestive imbalances.

All we did was find ways to keep her from having an empty stomach and stop the store bin treats, and the problems went away as she grew. We had just spent almost 2000 dollars in diagnostics and lost our Rottie anyway. Forgive us if we were hesatant to run to the vet.

If you're going to have a GSD
by: Anonymous

...then be prepared and willing to take it to the vet for something like this. You sure wouldn't let your baby throw up all the time and have hair come out its butt without seeing a doctor would you? I think a lot of people should not have dogs, just like plenty of people should never have kids unless they're willing to give them proper medical care.

In Regards to vomiting bile

Try and give your German Shepherd some enzymes. It is quite common in these types of dogs to have digestive problems.

The enzymes that I use is called Enzymes Pro Plus and it really works. Depending on the dog, it can take up to l month to work.
Good luck!
