It depends on the dogs.
by: Amanda

Any time you can have two dogs it is probably better for the dogs. Always having someone to play with is important to dogs since they are naturally social pack animals.

If the two siblings get along well then it is really just a matter or your desire to have two large dogs. The dogs will be happier having each other but you having two dogs may be a different story.

My boyfriend and I both have GSDs and they adore each other. They play constantly and it makes it a lot easier for us since they wear each other out and keep each other entertained all the time.

They are still as devoted and loving towards us as they are too each other and are much happier having a friend all the time.

1 GSD or 2?
by: Jackie

Be careful keeping male and female siblings. Unless you can keep them separated when she goes into heat, you need to have her fixed.

I'm sure you know that mating siblings is not a good idea in any breed, but especially GSDs. This would bring out the genetic problems that would be avoided by breeding to another blood-line.

Good luck to you

A female sibling should be fine. I had two males from the same litter and it was a hard work to say the least.
