Motion Sickness
by: Anonymous

I too experienced motion sickness with my GS. There is medication but it can be costly if you want to go on trips or ride your GS frequently. Start out by holding out on feeding and taking your GS for short rides, for instance around the block.

You have to be consistant and your dog should grow out of it. It took mine until he was a year old to finally get over it and now we both are happy!

Benadryl will usually help with car sickness and it will make him a little sleepy!

be consistant

German shepherd naturally have weak tummies, but in my own experience mine have all gotten sick when I would first take them.

They do have meds at the vet for car sickness. But I believe the more you take them it will get better. big gaps in between rides will not help. Be consistent.

Motion Sickness in a German Shepherd Dog
by: Debbie

It can be done but it may take a little time. Be patient. All dogs are not born car riders - in fact I have an adult friend who still gets car sick whenever she rides so sometimes car sickness is just what you get.

But overall with practice I think you can get your German Shepherds past this - read this page to get some more tips on training as well as medication you may need to try out (at least in the beginning):
