My german shepherd puppy's height.

We have a black and red, 8 and a half week old german shepherd puppy.He weights 13.6lb and stands just above 13 inches tall.He was not the pick of the litter but they were all the same size.

What we want to know is if thats a good weight and size at his age.I have seen puppies weight more than him at the VET,but they were sable german shepherds. His dad is huge and the mom is average for a female.

Sounds about right for a GSD puppy that age but it does vary from puppy to puppy - even within litters.

As long as your puppy is healthy and playful I would not worry too much about the specifics yet but do be watchful in how your puppy progresses - you can even keep a weekly log to take with you to your vet to show them your puppies height and weight as it matures - which could be very helpful.

You never know - he might just be a slow starter. Keep him on as good a food as you can afford, exercise him, train him and play with him daily and your German Shepherd baby boy will grow into a big fella in no time at all. Keep the pics coming as he grows if you can - we'd all love to see them.
