Our Female German Shepherd is Protective of Our Newborn

My husband and I just had our first child and now that he's 3 months old, we started taking him to the park with our female German Shepherd Caprica.

Even though she is super-friendly and very obedient, we don't allow her to touch or come near our baby, so she hasn't had much contact with our little boy.

When we were at the park, we saw another GSD owner and her dog that live across the street and we let the two dogs play. They played together fine, but anytime the other dog would come near the stroller, Caprica would put herself between the stroller and the other dog.

It was subtle at first, but then we finally noticed what she was doing and we were very proud that she was being protective of our newest family addition! She got a marrow bone as a treat later that night!
