Is he crate trained? Try putting him in the crate when you two decide to have your time together. He would think you've gone to work or something.

Jealous German Shepherd
by: Anonymous

Do you have a family friend whom you trust that would maybe take him for a time like you would a child while you worked, so you could have your intimate time?

I know it sounds excessive, but it may be something to think about.

It's not a protective thing, it's truly a jealousy thing. Tenchi is whining and barking, but his tail is usually wagging.

Blocking the door would make him continue to try and open it and when he couldn't he'd tear up the door frame as he's done to the back patio doors when he wants in and is locked out.

We always do give him plenty of attention, he's loved very much. Unfortunately, he's just overtly jealous.

Jealous GSD?
by: Anonymous

It's a well known fact that GSDs are very protective of their family members. He might be afraid that one of you are hurting the other. Try assuring him that you're both fine.

At the same time, GSDs are very attention craving. Try blocking the door with a dresser or something he can't move, and afterwards shower him with attention to show him that he is still loved and importaint to you. This will keep him from feeling as if he doesn't matter anymore.

German Shepherd Owner Here

We have a female shepherd and she's extremely intelligent. She has even learned to spell.

We had to teach her how not to interrupt us in those moments when we can get some time together. We made her get down off the bed and stay on her dog bed.

Now when we start doing anything she jumps down off the bed and waits until she's sure we are either not going to do anything or we are finished.

The good thing about shepherds is they are extremely loyal, very intelligent, and obedient.
