My Bestfriend, my German Shepherd, Vicious

by Brittney B.
(Virginia, USA)

Vicious being so handsome.

Vicious being so handsome.

Vicious being so handsome. At the dog park, he loves it there At the Beach This is Vicious(in the back) and our friends shepherd Mia(in the front)

I never knew I could love an animal as much as I love my shepherd. He's more to me than just a pet. He's my best friend!

Our friends had just gotten a shepherd puppy, Mia, she was a very beautiful dog. I had only seen shepherds on tv or in the park, I had never been so close to one. About 2 weeks after they got her they got a call from our trainer at pet smart.

One of the ladies in the grooming department had to give away her 2 year old male shepherd. They knew they couldnt take him, they just didn't have the room for 2 big dogs. So they called my fiancee and we arranged a meeting with the woman.

She explained to us that she had rescued him from a breeder who kept him locked in a crate 24 hours a day for the first 10 months of his life. Then she explained why. The breeder noticed that his ears werent developing right. So the breeder pulled him away from his mother, brothers and sisters, to lock him in a crate for most of his puppyhood.

All because his ears didn't stand up. And what made me really mad was that the breeder was going to have him put down because of his ears. I wanted to find the breeder and give them a piece of mind.

A few days after talking to her on the phone we met up at pet smart. I was excited and scared at the same time. What if he didn't like us? All the worries disappeared when I saw him. He was the most beautiful animal I had ever seen.

She walked him over to us, as he got closer he got bigger. I thought he had to weigh at least 80lbs( he was actually 97lbs). He sniffed both of us, seeming to approve. We talked to her for what felt like forever. Asking her every question we could possible think of about him. The whole time I am petting him and watching him.

After a tearful good bye, we took him home. He was a little scared at first, but he warmed up really fast. He became attached to me very fast. It took almost a week for him to get comfortable. He has become a part of the family. We call him our son.

Everyday he is here with us is a gift. He is a great listener, he loves to go for car rides. He just loves life. I dont know what I would do with out him. He's sweet and very loving. He is my best friend.

I'm still trying to understand why some one could be so cruel to a helpless animal like him. With us he has nothing to worry about, we love him so much, and always will!

Buddy
by: Linda A - St Louis

Your story brought a tear to my eye. Your Buddy was meant for you. He came into your lives at the right time, when you needed each other. "Ears" doesn't make the dog.

Buddy was an innocent little puppy and shouldn't been neglected. Sounds like the that breeder was in it for the money and not for the Love of the breed or it's litter. Buddy may not have been "perfect" for the breeder but he is "Perfect", in every way it counts.

My first female GSD, Kelly, had one ear up and one ear down she was a great dog and a good protector. Now I had Mia, my beautiful GSD. You can read our story, german shepherd and/or german shepherd puppy,"Mia's Story" Dogs are Wonderful!!!
