Love the Royal Canin for German Shepherds!

We used to feed our GSDs Nutro. They did well on it, but we still struggled with loose stools - not fun when you're trying to clean up the yard.

We are blessed to have a wonderful friendship with our local pet store owner, and he recommended Royal Canin. We did the research and decided to try, and wow, what a difference. The pet yard is MUCH easier to clean up, and both our girls look sleek and healthy.

It's great when we go to the vet's office, because they all comment on how wonderful their coats, skin and teeth are. The shape of the food helps cut down on them bolting their food, and also helps clean their teeth.

My husband and I often joke that we sound like walking advertisements for the food, but we can't say enough good things about it. I can't see us ever switching, unless one of the girls developed an allergy or something major along those lines.

Question NEW
by: Amy Hnonymous

I have a GS puppy. She has had a lot of diarrhea - at first it was due to the parasite, Giardia. She has now tested negative for it, and while she was taking the medicine her poops went back to solid. Now that she's off the medicine, and testing negative for parasites, she has gone back to loose "puddle-like" stools. The vet suggested switching to Royal Canin for gastro problems (she was eating IAMS large breed puppy food). I opted to switch to Royal Canin GS puppy food and we did the recommended gradual change. She is now 100% Royal Canin GS puppy. How long before I can expect to see solid poop again?

Royal Canin has my vote!
by: Janet K.

German Shepherds may look tough, but they have picky tummies! Our Otto is very fit and healthy on Royal Canin. If we try any table scraps---we learned right away that it is not a good idea. Two cups AM, Two cups PM. We also add 1/2 cup "Retriever with Beef Cuts in Gravy", from Tractor supply. He eats the dry food more readily, and it does not upset his system.
Otto is two, and he is a long hair GSD---a real beauty, and a total joy. I will only buy Royal Canin German Shepherd food.
PS: our little mini doxie likes it too, but of course, at 14 lbs, eats a lot less!!
