At 17 years old I took a job up in the mountains a few hours away from my home! I had my own cabin in the woods and I just knew I would be needing a furry friend. I went to the local humane society and I was looking for a smaller, older, female dog. I ended up with a 2 year old male German Shepherd! A majority of the dogs in that shelter were barking like crazy, and pawing at their cages, but when I walked by my boy he stood up walked right over to me and looked me right in the eyes, and the connection was made. I was in absolute love. I took him out to play with him and my best friend said "This is your dog, you have to get him." After I took him up to the cabin he wouldn't leave my side, he would go running through the trails and as soon as I said his name (Which I had just given him) he ran right back. I left him tied up one time during the first week that I had him and he escaped his harness in no time at all and ran right through the whole entire camp, and through the camp store and sat right by my side. Now that's loyal. We share memories and adventures together all the time, and after I left the mountains he made the journey across the country with me to move back to my home town. My family wasn't really a dog loving family before, but they sure are now and he will be a part of this family and have a special place in our hearts forever! I can honestly say I don't know what I would do without my best friend.
